Composed of Clem Castro (electric guitars/vocals), Mcoy Fundales (acoustic guitars/vocals), JM del Mundo (bass) and Ace del Mundo (drums), Orange And Lemons used to be an act that we only heard on the alternative rock radio. Now the quartet, which was featured as the MTV Rising Star last June, is sweeping the mainstream airwaves and making its mark as the band to watch.Their mainstream debut officially makes Orange And Lemons an "indie-pop" band. This makes most listeners wonder what the band was like before their debut song "Hanggang Kailan" started topping multiple charts, from the NU 107 Weekly Midnight Countdown to RX 93.1's weekly countdown, all the way to MTV Diyes.Orange And Lemons broke into the indie music scene in December 2003, when they came out with their independently produced first album titled Love In The Land Of Rubber Shoes And Dirty Ice Cream under Terno Records. Being an underground album, the first outing did not receive any marketing blitz or airplay. Apparently, though, there was no need for these, as the group's live performances were enough to drum up listeners’ interest in the fresh act.In no time, Orange And Lemons gained a strong following among local gig circuit habitués who found the group’s music—a fusion of influences including Pinoy rock, The Beatles, The Smiths, Dave Clark, Fra Lippo Lippi, and other English guitar pop and indie pop acts from the ‘80s—a whiff of fresh beat. The following year, Orange And Lemons won the NU Rock Awards Best New Artist plum. Their song, "Just Like A Splendid Love Song," and their album were both nominated in the Song of the Year and Album of the Year categories, respectively. After the publicity that the group single-handedly generated, going mainstream became inevitable. Indeed, before the band knew it, they were already signing up a record deal with Universal Records. And in May of this year, their second album titled Strike Whilst The Iron Is Hot -— their first mainstream opus—was finally released. Their monster hit, "Pinoy Ako", which is also the theme of ABS-CBN's top rating reality series Pinoy Big Brother is currently burning video and radio charts.

6CycleMind

6cyclemind is the newest artist of BMG Records Pilipinas with their debut album Permission To Shine. They are the band to watch out for in the Philippine music industry with their single 'Biglaan' topping the charts of the country's popular radio stations. They have been on the number 1 spot for eight consecutive weeks already in NU107's Midnight Countdown, two consecutive weeks in RX 93.1's Weekly Countdown, number 1 in the Daily survey, and is within the top 10 of KOOL 106's OPM Countdown. The single is also gaining much popularity among other local radio stations. THEIR MUSIC: One could label the music of 6cyclemind as "alternative/pop crossover", which is basically a fusion of alternative music and pop music; the music sounds very young and fresh with cutting edge. The songs are very commercial and after listening to the songs a few times, one would definitely be hooked. The songs convey positive themes with the hope of alleviating our plight in these difficult times. They do covers from the likes of Incubus, Vertical Horizon, Matchbox 20, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Puddle of Mud and the like. 6CycleMind's ubiquitous hit "Sige" has become a teen anthem all while staying in the top position in most radio charts.

U- Turn

They are not your ordinary acoustic band. Formed during the resurgence of acoustic music around 3 years ago, U-Turn’s sound has evolved into one of the fullest sounding pure acoustic set-ups today. Their music has weaved many forms of musical styles sung and performed in U-Turn’s unique (and almost patented) arrangements that puts their listeners into an emotional musical journey. Most of all, they have managed to connect to their ever growing loyal supporters that tirelessly follows them in wherever they perform. And because of their well-attended performances whether on special shows or regular gigs, U-Turn is now one of the most sought after performers in the industry today. The MusiciansU-Turn is a convergence of different musical personalities that jive well. On Female Lead Vocals is Teri Sambajon. She is recognizable as one of the vocalists of the now defunct vocal group FOJ (later called Vanna Vanna). She has a wide vocal range and her R&B singing style has adapted well into U-Turn’s own unique style. Richard Poon is the Lead Male Vocalist and one of two (2) Guitarists in the band. He was part of the bands Sunny Side Up and For the Road prior to U-Turn. More than his exemplary guitar playing and voice, he has written a good number of original compositions some of which have been featured in their first album. The third member is Bam Santiago who is the second Guitarist. Having been a member of the band Seventh Soul, Bam has added a rich texture to the acoustic guitar sound of the band. Apart from this, Bam sings back-up vocals and does lead vocals on a few songs that highlight his relaxed singing style. Very recently, they have added a fourth member in James De La Paz who plays percussion and/or drums. His playing has added a new dimension to the group’s sound that has allowed the group to diversify into more styles of music. The MusicU-Turn’s songs is a mixture of Pop, R&B, Alternative and Standards. It is because of this diverse repertoire of songs that their music and performances have appealed to a cross-section of people from the young teens to the mature crowd.U-Turn has released to-date 2 albums under Viva Records entitled “U-Turn” and “By Request”. Their current single “Make It Real” is enjoying good airplay over radio and the accompanying video can now be seen on MYX and MTV.

Blue Ketchup

Blue Ketchup newest artist of STAR Records. Album to released soon. Blue Ketchup dares to go fresh, sincere and unabashedly pop. Blue Ketchup is pushing for a light, new sound of love songs “pop with a zing” – deeply felt yet mush-free. Their compositions are about unrequited love, reciprocating affections and oftentimes injected by light humor. All these are blended together in a style of music that borders between pop and the bands own rhythm and blues. What makes them truly distinct, however, is how their music reflects the Filipino sound of the 70’s and 80’s. They are the best known for performing their songs naturally fun and always making their audience part of the show.Blue Ketchup’s source of best pop music ranges from famous artists such as John Mayer, Toto, James Taylor, Breathe, The Police, Binoculars, and Tears for Fears. The band considers our local bands namely Apo Hiking Society and Labuyo as its strong influence on their music.Their original songs “Basta” and “Sana Na Lang” were first heard during the RX 93.1 Band Breakout, a musical competition for promising new bands by one of the country’s top leading radio stations. The songs, together with their dynamic performance, successfully brought them to the grand finals. They are currently working on an album deal, armed with their fun, fresh and soothing music.

Out of the Box

Out-of-the-Box was born on October 18, 2003. Formed in light of the Voices 2 Pop-cappella Competition, it features an Ateneo – La Salle hybrid of eight young performers from varied voice ranges each showcasing his/her individual talents and abilities.
As the name suggests, the group prides itself in deviating from the norms and revolutionizing how things are done. They produce music without the use of musical instruments or any other technical accompaniments save for the microphones – for Out-of-the-Box, its pure voices. Secondly, they remain as the only student-led, student-run and student-empowered pop-cappella group in the music industry revolving around a unified goal of performing for the love of pop-cappella and for the greater glory of God without prejudice to their academic commitments – their foremost priority.

The group concentrates on the genre of pop music through its original pop-cappella arrangements of recent chart-toppers and hits. Not to discount genres other than pop, the group prides itself with a repertoire of selections from other genres including the classics, love songs, retro music and alternative beats proving the inherent versatility of the group relative to a particular occasion or audience achieved through arrangements focused heavily on but not limited to the genre of pop music.
Though it may be considered as a group still in its infancy stage relative to the time it has spent as Out-of-the-Box, the talents within and the potentials of the men who comprise the group remain beyond question given its success in the recently concluded Voices 2 competition of Magic 89.9 where it won First-Runner-Up and Crowd’s Favorite being the only group to win two awards in the said competition. Similarly, the group has performed in major events organized by broadcast giants such as Magic 89.9, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation and DWRR 101.9.
Most importantly, it suffices to mention that Out-of-the-Box, simplistic as it may seem, is nurtured by every single applause or complement that we receive from our patrons. For we believe that at the end of the day, what matters is that we have accomplished our unified goal of delivering enjoyment and satisfaction to our audience. In the end, this remains as the very force that makes us dare to be different.

Protein Shake

Considered to be one of the hottest up and coming rock alternative bands in the OPM Music Scene, Protein Shake's "Malas Mo" is currently enjoying strong airplay in local radio stations.

Milk and Money

Milk n’ Money is the latest band to be held as champion in the RX 93.1 Band Breakout! Armed with a more aggressive spunk through their winning entry "SCREAM", the band was awarded the highest distinction in the recently concluded 2004 RX 93.1 Band Breakout. THEIR MUSIC:Their music is what they describe as melodic alternative pop – the marriage of sentimental lyrics and captivating harmony. It speaks of love, hate, suffering, mending and moving on – the ingredient to win the hearts of the Filipino audience. The band can also boast of playing their music alongside famous bands in the Philippine industry.
